How to export inventory dumps on EverQuest Legends

Every helper on EQL Tools that “just knows what you own” starts from a client text dump. This is the in-game procedure we actually use, including the three ways people lose Dragon’s Hoard, Wind Runes, and UTF-16 files.

Type the command in game chat — not on this site

The box on EQL Tools is for paste. The command itself goes in the EverQuest chat window while you are logged into the character you care about:

  • /outputfile inventory — worn gear, bags, bank, and (if you opened it first) Dragon’s Hoard
  • /outputfile achievements Complete — finished achievements, including Obtain-reward lines the Sky Tracker can check off
  • /outputfile spellbook — spells this character has scribed

There is no /outputfile recipes on this client. Live-era recipe dumps do not exist here. That is why the recipe catalog is Classic PEQ and labeled as such.

Click the text document in chat

After a successful dump, chat shows a clickable text document. Click it to open the file. Select all (Ctrl+A), copy (Ctrl+C), then paste into Sky Tracker, Profiles, Gear Advisor, or Spells.

You can also upload the .txt from your EverQuest folder. Prefer upload when paste looks like garbage: the client often writes UTF-16, and some editors silently mangle that if you “Save as ANSI.”

Open Dragon’s Hoard before inventory

Storages are not always in /outputfile inventory. If Sky parts or bag gear live in Dragon’s Hoard, open that window at a banker, then dump. People skip this, import, and think the tracker is broken because the parts “aren’t in inventory.”

Wind Runes are a currency, not a bag item

Azia / Kala / Meda / Caza (and the rest) usually do not appear as normal inventory rows. Check Inventory → Storage → Currencies in game. If the dump has no Wind Rune rows, paste a Name / Expansion / Quantity list into the Sky Tracker or type Held amounts by hand. The tracker will not guess runes you did not enter.

What a dump does not include

  • Mid-tier merge XP on upgrades — dumps show whole +N tiers. On Profiles, enter Merge XP (for example 6 / 32) after import so the paperdoll matches the inspect window.
  • Items sitting in a shared bank you did not dump on this character
  • Stats. The dump is names, IDs, counts, and slots. Combat numbers come from the catalog (inspect-verified when we have them).

Which tool to paste into

  • Sky Tracker — inventory plus optional achievements; then Wind Runes
  • Character Profiles — inventory for the paperdoll; same file feeds Gear Advisor if you pick that saved profile
  • Gear Advisor — paste the dump or choose a saved profile, then pick a loadout focus
  • Spell Database — spellbook dump or client spells_us.txt

Unique item IDs from inventory imports also get added to the shared item catalog as sighted IDs. That is how the database grows without scraping other sites.

If import says it found nothing

  1. Confirm you copied the dump, not the chat line that says the file was written.
  2. Upload the file instead of paste (UTF-16).
  3. Open Dragon’s Hoard and dump again.
  4. Set Character and Server on the tool so you are not looking at a different local profile.
