How we verify EverQuest Legends data

The item catalog on EQL Tools is incomplete on purpose. A full Lucy-style database would be faster to ship and worse for this server. This page is the rule we actually follow when an ID, a wiki tooltip, and an inspect window disagree.

Three layers, in order of trust

1. Sighted in a dump

If a game_item_id appears in an EverQuest Legends inventory dump, the item exists here. That flag is not “we checked the stats.” It only means someone on this server held the item long enough to export it. That is how the database grows: players import dumps into Profiles or Sky Tracker, and unique IDs land in the shared catalog.

2. Inspect-verified

Combat numbers (AC, HP, mana, resists, ratio, and so on) are inspect-verified when they were taken from an in-game inspect on EverQuest Legends and saved through the item admin form. Those rows are protected: automatic enrich from Helper or wiki is not allowed to overwrite them. Base values are +0; upgrade math is applied after that overlay.

Example we keep because wiki pages still get it wrong: Denon’s Disruptive Discord is 8 HP per tick on this server, not 4. Spell harvest stays on client spells_us.txt plus inspect — we do not “fix” ticks from a fan tooltip.

3. Helper / wiki fill-in

eqlwiki, EQL Helper, eqlegendstools, eqlbuilds, and similar sites are useful as names to look up. Icons and empty flavor text can come from them. We do not mass-import their stats or their IDs. If a number only exists on another fan site, it does not become catalog truth until a dump or an inspect says so.

What Gear Advisor does with that

The advisor scores items it can actually read. Missing stats means the item is skipped or marked unknown — it will not invent a BiS pick from a blank tooltip. Owned gear from your dump is the default pool. “Include items I don’t own” ranks catalog items you have not dumped; it still uses the same scoring, not a human BiS spreadsheet.

Focus weights (tank / caster / melee / balanced) are documented in the Gear Advisor scoring guide.

Drop maps and recipes

Drop pins, when they appear, come from Classic PEQ spawn data (Magelo junk tables omitted). Named-boss hints from Helper are used only when PEQ has no authored drop. EverQuest Legends can differ; treat maps as a starting point.

Tradeskill combines are Classic PEQ with trivial 250 or less. The EQL client has no recipe dump command, so we will not pretend a Live /outputfile recipes file exists.

How to help without scraping

  1. Import a real dump so IDs get sighted. See how to export dumps.
  2. If an inspect window disagrees with the catalog, send the item name and the in-game numbers. A screenshot of the inspect helps.
  3. Do not paste a wiki table and call it verified. We will not take it.

Unofficial fan methodology. Not affiliated with Daybreak. If a patch changes an item, in-game inspect wins.
