Gear motes

The +N on your dump is not the inspect window

The inventory file prints a whole mote tier. Advisor scales from that integer. If inspect is sitting between ranks, you have to type Merge XP yourself.

Open a dump and you will see names like Indicolite Helm +3. That +3 is all the client gives us. It does not include the Merge XP bar. So a piece that inspects as “halfway to +4” still imports as +3, or occasionally +4 if the client rounded the other way. We got tired of paperdolls lying about that, which is why Profiles has a Merge XP field after import.

What Advisor does with the integer

Catalog stats are stored at +0. Advisor then applies the dump’s tier, capped at +10:

  • AC, HP, mana, endurance, ATK, regen, attributes, resists — multiply by 1 + 0.10 × tier and floor it. A 20 AC helm at +3 becomes 26.
  • Weapon damage — same idea at 5% per tier.
  • Haste — add 1 per tier. Not a multiply.

If the catalog row has no HP, +10 will not invent HP. That is the same stubbornness as the rest of the site. Formulas for tank / caster / melee sit on Gear Advisor scoring.

Spells are a different control

A spellbook dump says which spells you know. It does not say which mote ranks you paid for. The slider on the spell preview is a what-if. Dragging it to +10 does not mean your wizard bought +10.

Usual order: Hoard dump → Profiles (fix Merge XP on anything mid-bar) → Advisor on that saved profile. If +N and inspect still fight, send the inspect.
